Documentary Film Screenings (Premiere) on the European Tour of the Batumi Ilia Chavchavadze Professional State Drama Theatre

Three documentaries will be shown: 

  • 2017 | The largest tour in the history of the theatre- in Lithuania and Poland
  • 2018 | Tour in Brasov (Romania), “International Festival of Contemporary Drama”
  • 2019 | Tour in Rzeszow (Poland) “International Festival TRANS/MISSIONS-RISE OF EAST ART Rzeszow-Batumi-Odessa-Vilnius”

Brief descriptions:   

In 2017 the Batumi Drama Theatre was on its largest ever tour in Lithuania and Poland. The theater presented two plays – “Syndrome or who are you singing to?” staged by Andro Enukidze and “As Many Demons as you Like” staged by Jacek Glomb (Poland) in the following cities: Panevėžys (Lithuania), Legnica, Jelenia Góra, Wroclaw, Wałbrzych (Poland). During the tour memorandums were signed with the Miltinis Drama Theatre in Panevėžys (Lithuania) and the Modjeska Theatre in Legnica (Poland). The tour was covered by a number of media as well as attended by international critics. The film describes all these activities. Duration: 30 minutes.       

In 2018 the Batumi Drama Theatre was on tour in the city of Brasov (Romania) to participate in the international festival of contemporary drama, presenting the performance “The Break-Up Man” staged by Ion Sapdaru (Romania). At the festival, the actor of our theatre Tite Komakhidze was awarded the prize for the best male actor. The film describes the process of the festival, interviews and awarding ceremony. Duration: 28 minutes. 

In 2019 the Batumi Drama Theatre attended the festival, the title of which clearly identifies the name of Batumi - “International Festival TRANS/MISSIONS-RISE OF EAST ART Rzeszow-Batumi-Odessa-Vilnius”. We presented the performance “Syndrome or who are you singing to?” staged by Andro Enukidze. The festival is going to be held annually and participation of the Batumi Theatre is guaranteed in all of them. Within the frames of the festival, the memorandum was signed between our theatre and the Wanda Siemaszkowa Theatre in Rzeszow. The film shows the process of the festival and interviews with the organizers. Duration: 22 minutes.
