Galaktion Gogiberidze

Position: Design Director

After graduating from the faculty of Scenography of Tbilisi Academy of Arts in 1994, Gogla Gogiberidze started creative activities at the Batumi Ilia Chavchavadze State Drama theatre (under supervision of Gogi Gunia) and Batumi Opera and Ballet State Theatre (under supervision of Ushangi Imerlishvili and Mirian Shvelidze). His first works as a stage designer are “The Ballet Evening” and “Choreographic Sketches” together with Koka Ignatov.

At the Batumi Opera and Ballet Theatre and the Batumi Music Center, Gogla Gogiberidze has accomplished a number of interesting performances among which special attention is deserved by scenography of Minkus “Don Quixote” and Viktor Dolidze’s comic opera “Keto and Kote”.

Since 2006, Gogle Gogiberidze has been the Design Director of the Batumi Ilia Chavchavadze State Drama Theatre. The plays staged during this period are distinguished by “scenic space” as the structural basis of the performance; performances under his design represent one artistic canvas of scenography design.

Gogle Gogiberidze has worked on the artistic design of a number of performances at the Batumi Ilia Chavchavadze State Drama Theatre, including Camus’ “Caligula”, I. Samsonadze’s “In the Evening Garden Like a Colorful Dream”, L. Bughadze’s “Nugzari and Mephistopheles”, Shakespeare’s “Macbeth”, etc.
