Batumi Drama Theater Actress Zurab Kavtaradze Dies at the Age of 68

Zura Kavtaradze, Georgian film and theatre actor andthe actor of Batumi Ilia Chavchavadze State Drama Theater, has died.

Zura Kavtaradze graduated from the Acting Faculty of the Shota Rustaveli State Theater Institute of Georgia in 1983, and in 2002 - from the Film Directing Faculty of the Batumi Institute of Arts, specializing in feature film directing.He worked as an actor at the Metekhi Theater in 1983-1988, and from 1996 until his death at the Batumi Drama Theater.

Zura Kavtaradze has created a number of important stage faces, including: King Charles (The Lark), Gela (So What If Lilac is Wet?), Parum Osepa (First They Died, Then Got Married), Senior Lombard (The Servant of Two Masters), Alfonse (Ma-Mure) and many others.

Rich is the palette of screen images performed by Mr. Zura Kavtaradze, who participated in the following films: “The Book of Oath”, “Oh, The Dreadful TV set!”, “Repentance”, “Nylon New Year Tree”, etc.

As the director, Zura Kavtaradze made a number of feature and documentary films, was the director of editing and the music director of the films.

Zura Kavtaradze conducted active teaching activities for years. He was the Head of the Film and TV Department of Batumi Art State University and a Professor of the same department.
