Rehabilitation of Stage Equipment and Mechanisms
Batumi Ilia Chavchavadze State Drama Theatre Prepares for the New Season
In October, the Batumi Ilia Chavchavadze State Drama Theatre will open its 148th theatrical season. The upcoming season will feature several premieres, the return of familiar productions, and performances from the theatre’s existing repertoire.
As the new season approaches, it is important to ensure that the theatre’s stage facilities and technical infrastructure are fully functional, safe, and aligned with modern standards.
To this end, rehabilitation work is underway on the theatre’s main stage, known as the Grand Stage, located in the historic theatre building at 1 Rustaveli Street. The work includes the rehabilitation of the rotating stage mechanism, inspection of the stage bars and lighting battens, identification of any damage and necessary repairs, as well as the refurbishment of other stage mechanisms.
The project also предусматриates partial upgrades to sound and lighting systems, along with auxiliary technical equipment and materials. These improvements will help enhance the technical quality of performances and provide creative teams with a more flexible and efficient working environment.
For the Batumi Theatre, this is another important step towards welcoming audiences in the new season with a fully functional, safe, and technically well-prepared stage.
